New Water Slide at Castaway Cay
Disney has been working on some new slides and features at Pelican Plunge, a water playground at Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island in the Caribbean.
While the improvements weren’t meant to be complete until this summer, it seems as if at least one feature – the new water slide – has opened early.
Pelican Plunge, which is within a short swim from the shore, now has an enclosed corkscrew slide and a 140-foot open slide, which dump you right into the ocean. A large bucket soaks guests with water and four water cannons allow guests to shoot at targets in the sea.
Back on the main island, a 2400 square foot water play area called Spring-A-Leak is anticipated to open soon. Replicating a structure that was nearly destroyed by a storm, it offers leaky pipes and a pool of water (splash pad), along with water jets. There’s no getting out dry!
Also anticipated to open this summer is a new water play area at Scuttle’s Cover (a childrens play area), private beach cabanas, a larger family beach, new restaurants and shops, a teen retreat and additional paths for the guest trams.
